Young animals have a remarkable preference for sweet taste. This is especially true for pigs, but also for calves. Unfortunately in the European Union, for incomprehensible reasons, the use of saccharine is restricted to piglets. Other alternative sweeteners (such as thaumatin or stevia) are much less effective and not recommended for their use from an economic perspective.
The preference for "sweet" does not refer, however to all young animals, as demonstrated by extensive research at MICRO-PLUS. It could be demonstrated that rabbits showed no reaction to the application of sweet components.
MICRO-PLUS designed and manufactures sweetener blends under the trademark "NeoSweet".
