Influence of digestarom 1317 Poultry, Premium on performance parameters and reduction of the NH3-Emmission in Broilers

At the international Poultry Testing station (MEZINÁRODNÍ TESTOVÁNÍ DRUBEŽE, s.p.) in Ustrasice (CZ), the effect of the addition of digestarom 1317 Poultry, Premium in broiler feed on zoo-technical performances and NH3 content of the air in the stable was examined in an institutional setting.

180 day old chicks of the genotype Ross 308 were randomly divided, independent of gender, into 2 groups (control, trial), the animals were housed in groups of 45 animals each, the average live weight was the same in all groups.

Graph1: Comparison of zootechnical parameters (Fattening duration:35 days) (Control= 100)

The animals were fed according to the recommendation of the breeder, a 3-phase feeding regimen where the rations differed only by the inclusion of digestarom 1317 Poultry, Premium in the feed of the trial group for the entire trial duration.

In addition to the collection of zoo-technical parameters, on the 28th day of life NH3 concentration in the air of the barn was measured over a 24 hours period. (1 measurement / hour).

Results

At the end of fattening, the animals in the digestarom group showed, in contrast to the control group, a significantly higher final weight of about 5.2% (p> to 0.001). Appropriately the daily weight gain in the trial group lay around 5.3% higher than in the control group. However, this effect could not be statistically secured. The feed utilization (revised to a uniform final weight of 1.500 g) was improved about 1.2%.

Graph 2: Influence of digestarom on ammoniac excretion in broilers [kg/(animal x year]

The regulation of the NH3 concentration in the air of the barn and subsequent calculation show that the application of digestarom ® 1317 Poultry, Premium had reduced the release of ammonia by approximately 9%. In relation to the quantity of feed supplied in nitrogen, the nitrogenous loss of NH3 decreased more than 14%.

This result is represented by  graph 2.

Summary

The growth performance of broilers of the genotype Ross 308 was in some degree significantly improved by the application of digestarom 1317 Poultry, Premium. This improvement can be traced back to the numerous improvements recorded in examinations of the digestibility of the feed supplied nutrients by an increase in secretion of gastric acid and enzymes.

Furthermore, the N excretion of  ammonia relevant to the climate was reduced drastically. Also, this effect  leads back numerous proven increases in the   digestibility of feed supplied nutrients (in this case protein) as well as the stabilization of the physiological intestinal flora.
